Zimbabwe vs Pakistan – 3rd ODI Bilateral series – Betting Predictions and Tips

The third and the final ODI between the hosts Zimbabwe and Pakistan will be played on Saturday August 31, 2013. The match will be played at the same ground at Harare in Zimbabwe. The series is currently tied at 1-1 and the team which wins this match will win the series as well.

The hosts have managed to surprise the opponents and many others by winning the first match of the series and that too chasing a tough target against one of the best bowling sides of the world. But the team looked pretty average in the second game and after having a very good start, they lost wickets in very quick succession. The batting has been reliant on the skipper Brendon Taylor who is the most experienced and also one of the finest batsmen that team currently has and he did not let the team down. He was the only one who scored 79 in the last match to take the team closer to the target but his wicket let to the series of wickets which ultimately resulted in loss. The openers Hamilton Masakadza and Vusi Sibanda have been good and have scored two half century and one century partnerships already but the early fall in the last match exposed the weak middle order which is over reliant of the skipper.

The bowling looked pretty good in the first match but faltered completely in the second match as they allowed Pakistan to get to 299. The bowling woes further get compounded with some ordinary fielding as the team has been dropping quite a few and crucial matches which have cost them the last match and they need to ensure that they improve the standards to compete with the best teams around.

Pakistan came back strongly after losing the first match against the weaker opponent. The openers Nasir Jamshed and Ahmed Shehzad have not been in the best of the forms and have failed to impress. It is Mohammad Hafeez who took the maximum advantage of the situation and scored a terrific ton in the last match and proved why he is one of the finest all-rounders in this format in the world. He scored 136 not out from just 130 balls and continued to stay at one end to anchor the innings. Skipper Misbah-Ul-Haq failed miserably as he managed to score just 3 runs from 23 balls in the last match. Umar Amin scored a patient 59 and it was Shahid Afridi who lit up the innings in the end as he scored quickfire 39 of just 23 balls.

The bowling has been the asset for Pakistan and they have bowled to their potential in the last match as well. Left arm seamer Junaid Khan impressed the most with 4 wickets and giving away 15 runs from 7 overs. Abdur Rehman has also been decent picking up two wickets in the last match. However Saeed Ajmal who is known for his top class off spin bowling has not been up to his best though he has managed to squeeze 2 wickets in the last match.

Our Prediction

The series has become interesting with Zimbabwe winning the first match and so taking it to 1-1 which makes this match crucial for both teams to win. However still Pakistan has a clear edge over the hosts and they have dominated in all departments in their last match as well. so we expect Pakistan to win this match and series also quite comfortably.
