Zimbabwe vs Pakistan – 1st test match – Betting Predictions and Tips

After T20 and One day matches, Pakistan will play first of the two test match series with the hosts Zimbabwe starting September 3 – 7. The match will be played at Harare Sports Club in Harare in Zimbabwe at 10 AM local time and 1.30 PM IST.

The hosts have lost both the ODI and T20 series though they did show some fight in the ODI when they won the first match. However Zimbabwe has been facing some problems with the board and they have been continuously threatening that they would strike over some issues but fortunately they have agreed to play the series being played with Pakistan and so the uncertainty over the test matches being held has also gone.

The team does not have big names to boast off and they would again rely mostly on their key batsman and skipper Brendon Taylor to perform and all other batsmen are most likely to play support hand only. Their batting has been exposed in the last ODI series played and they have been lacking in a dependable opening pair for the test matches. Though there are chances that Tino Mawayo may make a comeback as he was out because of the groin injury and this could provide some strength in the batting lineup. In terms of bowling, again there is no big name to which the team can fall back on or rely completely.

Pakistan has been in good form winning back to back T20 and ODI series and playing against Zimbabwe should not be much of a challenge for them. The batting looks solid with Mohammed Hafeez in top form and already scored a half century and century in the recently ODI series against the current hosts. Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq would also be expected to perform with the bat as he has been not in the best of the form. Younis Khan is also expected to play an important role in the batting department.

If we talk about bowling, everyone knows that Pakistan has always been among the best bowling sides of the world and this team also is no exception. Fast bowler Junaid Khan has been in a top form and he would like to explore the situation with his swing bowling. Off spinner Saeed Ajmal would also like to get more wickets under his belt with some quality spin bowling including his doosra. Hafeez can also bowl and is a very handy bowler for the team.

Our Prediction

If we talk about history between the two sides, Zimbabwe has won only twice in 16 matches played against the visitors. In fact Pakistan has lost just one test match played away against Zimbabwe and that too in 1995.

Looking pretty obvious from the stats and the team performances, Pakistan is the clear favorite to win the match and in fact they should be able to win the test series also without much of a fuss. The hosts could only try their best and hope that they could manage to give a fight and if they win then it would be nothing less than a miracle that would happen.
