Zimbabwe vs Pakistan – 1st ODI Bilateral series – Betting Predictions and Tips

The first ODI between the hosts Zimbabwe and one of the most unpredictable sides in one day cricket Pakistan will be held on August 27, 2013 Tuesday. The match will be played at Harare in Zimbabwe. The series consist of three ODIs that would be played between the two sides.

Zimbabwe

The hosts have had a tough time playing with the Asian giants including recently concluded ODI bilateral series with India. The team has been in the worst of the forms having lost to Pakistan 2-0 in the just concluded T20 series and also losing to India 5-0 in the last ODI series played here at Zimbabwe. Brendon Taylor is the captain of the side and his role is very important for the side but he has had a very awful form with the bat and as a result of which the entire batting has been disappointing. In fact he got for duck three times in five matches against India which shows the awful form of the skipper. The team has not announced the ODI squad and so there is no certainty of which player would be given a chance in the series. However other batsmen who impressed a little against India include E Chigumbura, V Sibanda and Sikandar Raza as they were the only batsmen to score more than total 100 runs in the series against India. There is hardly anything that can be mentioned about bowling and it has been even more disappointing than the batting performance and there is no stand out name of performer who has impressed in recent matches.

Pakistan

There is no doubt that Pakistan is one of the most unpredictable sides in the cricket arena and they have almost everytime managed to keep up the reputation. Led by Misbah-ul-Haq, the team has done well in the recently concluded T20 against the hosts. Opener Ahmed Shehzad is in good nick having scored half tons in both T20 games against Zimbabwe. The biggest asset of the team is the all-rounders that they have – Shahid Afridi and Mohammed Hafeez. Both the players do exceptional bowling and while the former is a killer batsman on his given day, Hafeez is a good opener and can steady the batting easily under any circumstances.

Pakistan has always had some of the best bowlers in their side and this time too they have world’s one of the finest off spinner Saeed Ajmal who has troubled almost every batsman with his variety and intelligent bowling. The pace department is equally solid with bowlers like Mohammad Irfan and Junaid Khan bowling well and have taken wickets at regular intervals.

Our Prediction

If we talk about history between the two sides, Zimbabwe has only won twice against Pakistan in the ODI history and in fact has never won a match against Pakistan since 1998 which is almost 15 years now. They even lost the T20 series against Pakistan which has just concluded and prior to that they were dumped by India 5-0 in the ODI series.

On the other hand, Pakistan has some of the finest players in its side in every department and they would not find it very difficult to conquer this series also in a jiffy.

Looking pretty obvious from the stats and the past performance, Pakistan is the clear favorite to win the match and in fact win the series and that too 3-0 without much of a difficulty. The hosts could only try their best and hope for miracle to happen.
