Sri Lanka vs. South Africa – 3rd T20 match – Betting Tips and Predictions

Two T20 games down and down go Sri Lanka as well. South Africa has already taken the T20 series by virtue of winning the first two T20 games played at Colombo and Hambantota. With the third match of the series to be played at the same venue as the last one, South Africa would be looking for a clean sweep, something that they could have not even dreamed of given their performance in the One Day series. South Africa would be however, riding high on confidence after the reversal in fortunes as they have become the dominant team out of the two.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has no one to blame but their batsmen after they surrendered meekly once again to some disciplined bowling from the visitors. Kumar Sangakkara, the senior statesman in the side, once again tried to be the savior but lack of support from the other batsmen ensured another loss for the Lankan lions. A batting order so brittle does not show enough signs of a turnaround in the third match that will only bring some pride back for the home team. At the top of the T20 rankings at the start of the T20 series, the home fans have had almost nothing to cheer about apart from the class of Kumar Sangakkara.

A young captain leading a side with two former captains and a bunch of youngsters has not been able to create any sort of spark that can give hope to the home fans in the third T20 match. An off-day for Ajantha Mendis in the second T20 meant that Sri Lanka ended up chasing a few more runs than they would have liked. Hence, Mendis will be the key to keep the South African batsmen in check and get a few wickets in the process so that a low on confidence Sri Lankan batting side do not have to chase too many.

South Africa

J. P. Duminy has been the man for South Africa, with crucial knocks in both the T20 games so far. He also bowled exceptionally well in the first T20 match to create a turnaround in a match that Sri Lanka looked poised to win. But, so disciplined were the African bowlers from the start in the second match that Duminy did not need to bowl even a single over in the match. Even the returning Jayawardene could not make an impact against a bowling side that is well suited to the needs of T20 cricket.

Things do not look too bright for Sri Lanka as South Africa look set to cap off the tour with a 3-0 score line. Sri Lanka have failed to get enough partnerships in the middle order which is turning out to be the key difference in getting the runs set by the opposition. They have lost too many matches while chasing and would like to reverse the trend by batting first if they get the chance. South Africa has a better chance to once again dominate the Lankan batsmen and sign off on a high.
