Sri Lanka vs. South Africa – 2nd T20 match – Betting Tips and Predictions

It took three matches and a change of format for South Africa to finally register a win at Colombo after an inspired bowling performance by their bowlers. Sri Lanka will have to dig deep though as in a sudden reversal of fortune, their batsmen have been found wanting in what should have been an easy chase in the first T20 match at Colombo. Batsmen came and went with alarming regularity in an innings where the extras column produced more runs than seven Sri Lankan batsmen. However, this will certainly heat up things for the second T20 to be played at Hambantota tomorrow.

South Africa

Two key T20 players for South Africa helped the team to get to a less than modest score in the first match but things may be different on a different pitch at Hambantota. The bowlers for South Africa would be brimming with confidence as they go into the second match of the three match T20 series, although the same cannot be said about the batsmen. Captain A B de Villiers has still not hit the form that the team would expect out of him. One good innings in a T20 seems around the corner though which could spell doom for Sri Lanka if it comes about in the second match.

J P Duminy was the man of the hour in the first match and South Africa will again look to his class with both bat and ball to deliver another match turning performance. Duminy has long since threatened to be the next best thing for South Africa but has been lacking in consistency. Sri Lanka however, offers him a place to show his temperament with the bat and an opportunity to showcase his more than handy off-spin bowling. Another man of the match performance from him in the second match is just what South Africa need to seal the series.

Sri Lanka

The Lankan lions would be hurting meanwhile after a solid showing by their bowlers in the first innings to restrict the South African batsmen to under a score of 120. It is a rare sight to see a team bat first and make less than 120 runs without being bowled out. Such was the discipline shown by the Sri Lankan bowlers but in vain. Sangakkara sparkled with the bat as usual but the rest of the batsmen failed to bask in his glory. This is starting to become a familiar sight as the young batsmen are not able to make a mark especially in the absence of senior statesman Mahela Jayawardena.

Kusal Perrera flattered to deceive once again as an opener which is a crucial position in T20 cricket. A good start at the top is required since there is not much experience even in the middle order. Some top class bowling from South Africa will add pressure to an already inexperienced Sri Lankan batting that is not able to cope with pressure. But, it would be unwise to write off the Lankan lions especially in their own backyard.

Our Prediction

We liked South Africa to take the first T20 match, and we really like them to take the second match as well to seal the series. We believe Duminy will stand out with yet another brilliant performance and bring the win back to the South African side.
