Sri Lanka vs South Africa – 2nd ODI – Bilateral series – Betting Predictions and Tips

Hosts Sri Lanka would take on South Africa in the 2nd ODI match of the bilateral 5-match ODI series being played in Sri Lanka. The match will be played at Colombo on July 23, 2013 Tuesday at 2.30 PM local time. The first match was won by the hosts by a huge margin of 180 runs.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka won the first match in style after handing over a defeat of 180 runs to the Proteas. The team looks in good touch with the batting unit clicking and helping the team to score a mammoth 320 for the loss of just 5 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Kumara Sangakkara scored a magnificent 169 off 200 deliveries and looked in awesome touch. Upal Tharanga and Mahela Jayawardene also played well with 43 runs and 42 runs respectively. Dilshan failed to impress yet again with just 10 runs on the board. The bowling also was extremely ruthless Thisara Perera and Rangana Herath taking 3 wickets each and giving away just 56 runs in almost 16 overs combined in such a high scoring match. Dilshan also picked up 2 wickets but Malinga was not so successful giving away 21 runs in 4 overs.

South Africa

The Proteas would be very disappointed with their dismal performance and nothing really went well in the match for them. The absence of Hashim Alma was visible and it affected the batting but the good news is that he has been declared fit to play the match and so he may return in this match. Alviro Petersen and Robin Peterson top scored with 29 each and batsmen like JP Duminy, AB de Villiers (also the captain), Faf du Plessis, and David Miller failed to impress. Bowlers also took a beating Chris Morris going for 80 runs in 9 overs and Ryan McLaren going for 69 runs in 10 overs. In fact except for Mornie Morkel who took 2 wickets and gave away just 34 runs in 10 overs, all the bowlers took a beating giving away runs at an economy of more than 6 runs per over.

Our Prediction

South Africa would like to fight back and the return of Amla and Lonwabo Tsotsobe will surely boost the confidence of the team. The team has some great batsmen and lot would be expected from them to deliver so that the team can achieve a decent total.

Sri Lanka is playing at home and they look almost undefeatable when playing at home. The batting was sensational lead by the experienced duo of Sangakkara and Jayawardene and lot of expected again from them to deliver. The bowlers have been equally effective especially the left arm spinner Herath who has been creating some problems for the batsmen with his spinning deliveries.

Clearly the Sri Lankan side seems to have the edge and they would like to win this match and take a 2-0 lead though we can expect a cracker of the match with Proteas looking to fight back to gain self-respect and show that they are also capable of winning the match at sub-continent soil.
