Sri Lanka vs. South Africa – 1st T20 match – Betting Tips and Predictions

The One Day series is done and dusted as the tourney moves to the three match T20 series between a battered South African team and a high on confidence Sri Lankan team. Sri Lanka will be boosted by the return of Nuwan Kulasakera, who missed out on the fifty overs series due to an injury during the tri-nation tournament in West Indies. Jeevan Mendis, the leg spinning all-rounder also makes a comeback in a squad that aims to focus on horses for courses for the upcoming T20 series. Herath loses out on the spinner’s place on accord of the presence of the magician Ajantha Mendis, who has mesmerized the South African batsmen with his guile, and Senanayake.

The first T20 match will be held at Colombo, the venue of the recent loss for South Africa before the venue shifts to Hambantota for the remaining T20 matches. Yet another batting failure at Colombo would certainly be playing on the minds of the South African batsmen, but a change of format may suit the visitors well. Though the top ranking for Sri Lanka may suggest they hold the edge once again over the visitors, South Africa themselves boast a team of excellent and specialist T20 players.

There is hardly a doubt in anyone’s mind that AB de Villiers is the most dangerous batsmen in World T20 cricket at the moment. He would no doubt want to carry off the form he displayed in the last match of the fifty over series at Colombo. Sri Lankan bowlers may well end up chasing the leather against the likes of de Villiers, David Miller and J. P. Duminy. It is about time the batsmen stand up and be counted, and what better format than T20 cricket to assert their freedom after a tough One Day series.

The bowlers on either side look well matched although Kulasekara may not be at his best as it has been a while since he has played an international match. The all-rounders for South Africa would be their best asset in the first match of the three match series starting tomorrow. Ryan Mclaren is a world class T20 player having played in various leagues around the world. Chris Morris had a consistent debut season with Chennai Super Kings in the IPL this year so he certainly knows a thing on two on how to bowl sharply in T20 matches.

South Africa looks like a much more compact T20 team and should not struggle as uch as they did during the recently concluded One Day bilateral series. The matches will be closer and more exciting instead of the dull one sided affairs that were the feature on the tour so far. One good partnership is all it takes to set up a good total in a 20 overs match and South Africa would be banking on a couple of high class individual knocks from its batsmen. A decent total on the board tomorrow could just be what South Africa needs to help the bowlers drag them to a victory their game.
