The fourth match of the 5-match ODI series between South Africa and Pakistan will be played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi which is a neutral venue in this series. The match will be played on November 8, 2013 Friday and will start at 3 PM local time and 11 AM GMT. As of now the Proteas have the upper hand with 2-1 lead in the series.

South Africa

The batting department of South Africa (SA) has not been in the best of the form and with the captain Greame Smith being sent back home due to head injury, lot of responsibility comes on the veteran and one of the finest batsmen Hashim Amla. The other opener Quinton de Cock and Amla have both played just one match in the series till now though the former played an impressive and steady innings of 40 in the last match. The positive for the team has been the middle order which is decent form with JP Duminy leading the runs for SA till now with 109 runs from 3 matches. Faf du Plessis also scored well in the last match with 55 runs for which he was even given the man of the match award. Captain AB de Villiers is known for his terrific batting but has failed in this series with just 48 runs in 3 matches and so he is due for big one and can turn the match around anytime. David Miller has been decent with 82 runs in 3 matches and giving the support at the lower order.

In terms of bowling, Imran Tahir has been the pick of the bowlers with 8 wickets under his belt and is the joint top wicket-taker in the series till now and has good economy as well of 4.20. Morne Morkel has also been in good form and has been taking wickets in each match at regular intervals. Dale Steyn has played just one match which was the last one and his comeback would further strengthen the bowling attack of SA.

Pakistan

The batting of the Pakistan team has been led by the opener Ahmed Shehzad who has amassed 148 runs from 3 matches with 2 half centuries. Mohammad Hafeez who is the other opener has not lived upto the expectation and he would be expected to give a good start to the team in the remaining matches. Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq has also not had a good series with just 75 runs from 3 matches taking into account the kind of batsman he is and he is due to fire now. Another batsman who has disappointed hugely is the veteran explosive Shahid Afridi as he managed to make 41 runs with highest score of 26 from 3 matches.

Pakistan has always been among the best bowling units of the world and this team also have some good bowlers. Opening fast bowlers Mohammad Irfan and Sohail Tanvir have bowled superbly and restricted the openers of SA with former taking 7 and 4 wickets respectively. The economy is also below 4.50 for both bowlers. Spin department is led by Saeed Ajmal and Shahid Afridi with 8 wickets each and leading the bowling charts of the series as of now.

Our Prediction

It’s very difficult to pick which team would win as both have a great bowling attack but a decent batting attack. But Proteas won the last match and lead the series and so we feel that they have an upper hand in this match.
