South Africa vs Pakistan – 3rd ODI – Pakistan Tour of South Africa 2013 – Betting Predictions and Tips

South Africa

Batting of South Africa (SA) has not been upto the mark considering the fact that they have some good hitters in their team. Starting with Greame Smith, he has scored just 13 runs in 2 matches against Pakistan and it has been long time since he made a big score and so it would be expected from him to deliver in this match so that he can salvage the pride of self and the team. Other opener Hashim Amla missed out on the century in the last match when he got out on steady 98 and he would like to continue his form in this match as well. The middle order has performed in bits and pieces with the most experienced batsman Jacques Kallis managing to score 56 and Q de Kock managing 66 runs from 2 matches. Skipper AB de Villiers has looked good as he scored explosive 74 in last match in just 45 balls with 10 boundaries. JP Duminy has managed to get the start but could not finish the game as would be expected from him.

Talking about bowling, clearly Dale Steyn stands out with superb bowling performance and figures. He has got 9 wickets from 2 matches and has economy of less than 4 which is exceptional. The team is clearly missing other fast bowler Mornie Morkel who took 3 wickets in first ODI but did not play the last match. All other bowlers have been average as none of them have managed to take wickets regularly and the team looks over dependent on Steyn.

Pakistan would be on top of the world after having the T20 series first and now their maiden ODI series win against the Proteas. Opener Ahmed Shehzad has been in superb form with 137 runs in 2 matches and century in the last match. However Nasir Jamshed has not been able to convert his starts into big ones and that would some pressure on him to deliver in this match. The middle order batting has been pretty ordinary with no stand out performance in spite of having batsmen like Misbah-ul-Haq, who is also the skipper of the team, Shahid Afridi and Umar Akmal. In fact Afridi and Mohammed Hafeez are two superb all-rounders but they have not lived upto their expectations.

Bowling department has been the strong point of the team and this can be also seen from the fact that almost every bowler has contributed by picking wickets at regular intervals. Junaid Khan and Anwar Ali start the proceedings and have been able to provide early breakthroughs. Saeed Ajmal, Afridi and Hafeez manage the spin department and complement each other well.

Our Prediction

Pakistan has already won the series and they would be full of confidence and would like to win the third one as well and do the whitewash. On the other hand, South Africa would like to salvage some pride by trying to save this match and give a boost their confidence as they have series coming up against number one ODI team India.

However we feel Pakistan continue to have upper hand and they have a good chance of winning this match and the series as well.
