Pakistan vs. West Indies – 5th ODI – 2013 Series – Betting Predictions and Tips

It is the final math of the One Day series and only one team has a chance to win the series. Sure, West Indies will try their best to not lose another limited over series at home after they could not even manage to reach the Tri-Series final earlier this month. Fans would want to see a full match before the tourney moves on for the two T20 matches to Kingston. A miracle may have helped West Indies tie the third ODI but they will need a superlative performance in the last game against Pakistan to put one across them. Meanwhile, Pakistan would be licking their fingers to get an overseas limited overs series win to help them move up the table in the ICC ODI rankings.

West Indies

Chris Gayle was moved down the order, a move that only worked to an extent since he could not provide enough momentum to the team’s first innings score. A few more runs on the board may have meant a closer match which was further brought in favor of West Indies as Pakistan had to chase a target in excess of six runs per over. West Indies will undoubtedly come all guns blazing and the inclusion of Kieron Pollard in the team does seem on the cards even though he has not been in great form of late. Pollard’s replacement did not do too well and Kieron can also come in handy with his part time bowling.

Pakistan on the other hand would like to build on the high after the win the previous game even after a demoralizing draw in the third ODI. Not many teams would have been able to quickly bounce back after drawing a match that was completely in their hand for a long while. But, you can always expect a team from Pakistan to turn up with an amazing performance on any given day.

The key to Pakistan’s success in the previous game while chasing was that they did not give away any wickets to the spin wizard Sunil Narine. Keeping wickets in hands always helps even if the team is chasing in excess of six runs per over from the get go. Misbah-ul-haq showed his class once again and led from the front to help Pakistan register a much needed victory when the chips were down. Pakistan will look to the captain once again to deliver a telling performance in the final match of the One Day series. Seniors like Hafeez and Afridi will also look to make a mark in what would be a coveted series win in the Caribbean islands.

Our Prediction

Sunil Narine has now gone wicket less in the last two matches which only shows how important his overs are to the team. There may be a reliance on Chris Gayle in the batting but there is an equal reliance on Narine to help the team win matches. Needless to say, Narine will be the bowler to watch out for as he could easily spin out the Pakistani batsmen and help West Indies draw the series.
