New Zealand vs West Indies – 1st ODI West Indies Tour of New Zealand 2013-14 – Betting Predictions and Tips

The first ODI match between New Zealand and West Indies will be played on December 26th 2013. The match will be played at Eden Park in Auckland in New Zealand and will begin at 2 PM local time. There will be five ODI matches that will be played between the two sides at different venues after having played three test matches recently.

New Zealand (NZ)

NZ would be high on confidence after having won the recent three-test match series 2-0 over the visitors quite comfortably. The team has a good mix of experienced players and young talent and obviously they are playing at their home is also a big advantage for them. In terms of batting, return of Jesse Ryder as opener will further strengthen their opening as he has been pretty good in one day matches. Another batsman that comes back to the side is Martin Guptill which will also give strength in the middle order for the team. Ross Taylor would like to use his experience and ensure that he gets a big score for the team. Corey Anderson is a new talent and he can soon become a good all-rounder if he plays well in the series. Skipper and dashing batsman Brendon McCullum is also capable of playing big knocks and he will also look to lead from the front.

Talking about bowling department, Kyle Mills is expected to lead from the front as an experienced fast bowler. Nathan McCullum who is another experienced bowler is also expected to create some magic with his off spinners. Other bowlers are expected to play support role and they would like to make a mark as it would be a tough task playing against strong batting side of West Indies.

West Indies (WI)

WI may have lost the test match series against New Zealand but the team has some great names when it comes to one day squad and they are capable of demolishing any side on a given day. Their batting department consists of batsmen like Dwayne Bravo, Darren Bravo, Kieran Powell, Denesh Ramdin, etc who can play explosive cricket and are capable of scoring big. However the team lacks big names like Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Marlon Sameuls, etc who are terrific batsmen and had they been in the side they would have posed more threat to the not so experienced bowling unit of NZ.

Talking about the bowling, Ravi Rampaul is expected to lead from the front with his fast bowling supported by other medium bowlers including Darren Sammy. Sunil Naraine can be lethal with his off spin bowling though the team would miss the bowling of Shane Shillingford who has been suspected for his bowling action. Kemar Roach is another bowler who would be missed as he had great pace which could have helped in the NZ conditions.

Our Prediction

New Zealand has recently won the test match series against WI and so would be pretty high on confidence. Their one day form has also been decent and they are playing at home which further adds to their advantage.

West Indies is a superb one day side and they would be looking to give a tough fight and would like to turn around things for the team.

We can expect an exciting contest and we feel that NZ has an upper hand in this match. They would like to continue their winning streak and so they are our favourite to win this match.
