Mumbai Indians vs Kings XI Punjab – Match 41 – IPL 6 – Betting Predictions and Tips

After having defeated one of the best teams Royal Challengers Bangalore convincingly in their last match, Mumbai Indians (MI) now play Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at their home match in match 41 of IPL 6. The match will be played at Wankhede Stadium Mumbai on Monday April 29, 2013 at 8 PM IST. MI is placed forth with five wins out of eight matches played and KXIP is placed at sixth position with 4 wins out of eight matches played. There is another march earlier during the day between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

MI would be high on confidence after their superb last victory against Bangalore by a margin of 58 runs on Saturday. Sachin Tendulkar has not played big innings except for one half century but he showed in last match what he is capable of when he scored quick-fire 23 in just 13 balls and giving the required start to the team. The other opener Dwayne Smith who has replaced Ricky Ponting in the playing eleven has also been superb with two half centuries out of four matches played till now. Dinesh Karthik and Rohit Sharma are among the top run getters in this season and have already amassed 306 and 274 runs respectively. Kieron Pollard has also come in the destructive mode and he plays a superb cameo in almost every match when he gets a chance. The bowling has been decent with Mitchell Johnson doing superbly and having taken nine wickets from seven matches played. Lasitha Malinga has been very economical but has not taken much wickets as expected from him. Dhawal Kulkarni was superb in the last match having taken three wickets and giving away just 19 runs from 4 overs. Harbhajan Singh has been below par and Pragyan Ojha also has not looked too effective.

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP)

KXIP have looked good in some matches and in some matches they have just not performed. Their batting looks good with young Mandeep Singh, David Hussey and David Miller playing well and consistently which has helped the team chase even the tough targets. Adam Gilchrist is looking more of a liability and has not delivered at all in this season yet. The bowling has been decent with Praveen Kumar and Azhar Mahmood among the leading wicket takers for the team with nine and eleven wickets respectively. Piyush Chawla who is the only genuine spinner in the side has struggled badly and has just picked three wickets from eight matches so far. The other bowlers, Harmeet Singh, Parvinder Awana and Manpreet Gony have been ordinary and performed in patches. However players like Shaun Marsh and Ryan Harris have been kept out of the game and may be given a chance in this match.

Our Prediction

It can be clearly seen that KXIP is not as string team as MI and also the form of some of the big players in KXIP is a big worry. Also the record of KXIP is not very good when they are playing away from home and have struggled to even score 150 in their five away games. On the other hand, MI looks well balanced and the players look in good touch and doing the job just at the right time. Playing at their home and having defeated Bangalore, MI would believe they can win this match also and move up the table and so MI is our favorite to win this match.
