Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians – Match 33 – IPL 6 – Betting Predictions and Tips

Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will take on the struggling giant Mumbai Indians (MI) on Wednesday April 24, 2013. The match 33 of IPL 6 will be played at KKR’s home ground, Eden Gardens, Kolkata on April 24 at 8 PM IST. There is not much difference in terms of league standing between the two as MI is placed at sixth position and KKR just below MI at seventh.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

KKR had a good start to the tournament with a win over Delhi Daredevils but thereafter have lost four out of five matches played which means they have won just two games out of six played till now. The team has been heavily relying on the batting of KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir and Eion Morgan. Jacques Kallis has been good in patches and was infact out for a duck in the last match. Other batsmen like Manoj Tiwary, Debabrata Das and Rajat Bhatia have been pretty ordinary and not delivered to their potential. The biggest letdown for the team has been Yusuf Pathan who has failed to create an impact with the bat and the ball. Bowling also has been relying too much on Sunil Narine, Sachithra Senanayake and Kallis and no other bowler has been really performing consistently. Players like Brendon McCullum and Iqbal Abdulla have been waiting for their turn and have not got a chance to play.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

MI is surely one of the finest teams of the current edition and boasts of some greatest players but they have been crushed badly in their last two matches against Rajasthan Royals where they were out for just 92 and Delhi Daredevils where the opposition chased the target of 162 with loss of just one wicket. The batting great Sachin Tendulkar looked in good touch in the last match scoring 54 in his last match. The biggest worry for the team is the form of the skipper Ricky Ponting who has not been able to just deliver as per his capabilities. The middle order batsmen Dinesh Karthik and Rohit Sharma have been in superb touch and consistently scoring runs in this season. They both have scored 256 runs and 230 runs respectively and are among the top five run getters till now. Keiron Pollard has been good in patches and Rayadu has not been able to deliver much. The bowling is good but in the last match took a lot of hammering from Virender Sehwag. The pace attack is led by Lasith Malinga, Munaf Patel and the spin department is handled by Harbhajan Singh and Pragyan Ojha.

Our Prediction

Both the teams have lost their last two matches that they have played and would like to win this game to get their confidence back. KKR is playing at their home and they have has pretty close contests till now where they have lost the matches. They would like to maximum advantage of the home ground and prove that they are the defending champions. On the other hand, MI has been bruised by the last two losses and they would like to win this match to believe that they are no ordinary side and can come back pretty strongly. Also the fact that Sachin would be celebrating 40th birthday MI would like to give a pleasant gift to this batting genius with a victory. We believe MI has a slight upper hand in this match and are our favorites to win the game.
