Kolkata Knight Riders vs Kings XI Punjab – Match 35 – IPL 6 – Betting Predictions and Tips

The title holders of last IPL Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will take on the fifth placed Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in match 35 of IPL 6. The match will be played at KKR’s home ground, Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Friday April 26, 2013 at 8 PM IST. KKR is currently at seventh position and KXIP has done quite well and is at fifth position in the table as of now.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

After a good start, KKR has lost control of situation losing five out of seven matches. The batting has been over reliant on the skipper Gautam Gambhir and Eion Morgan who are looking in good touch whenever they have come out in the middle. Jacques Kallis has not performed to the potential and he may not play this match because of injury in the last match. The other batsmen, Manoj Tiwary, Debabrata Das and Rajat Bhatia, have been quite disappointing and have not been able to give the required support to the team. The biggest flop of the season has been Yusuf Pathan who is looking more of a liability than an asset as of now. Bowling department has been relying too much on Sunil Narine who is the highest wicket tacker as of now with 14 wickets. The other bowlers have been ordinary and need to support him and bowl consistently to win the matches. There are chances that Manoj Tiwary and Laxmi Shukla may sit out due to injury and so the explosive New Zealander Brendon McCullum may get a chance this time.

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP)

KXIP may not have as strong team as KKR but still they have played pretty well to get to the fifth position as of now with four wins out of seven matches played. Their batting is improving in each game with young Mandeep Singh, David Hussey and David Miller playing well and consistently which has helped the team chase even the tough targets. Adam Gilchrist is yet to fire and that is a big worry for the team. The bowling has been decent with Praveen Kumar leading from the front and among the wickets with economical bowling. The other bowlers, Piyush Chawla, Harmeet Singh, Parvinder Awana Azhar Mahmood and Manpreet Gony have been ordinary and performed in patches. However players like Shaun Marsh and Ryan Harris have been kept out of the game and may be given a chance in this match.

Our Prediction

KKR have been on the receiving end and they have been losing real close matches which means that they have been playing well but have not been able to hold their nerves till the end to win the match. However, the injury to some of the key players may turn into blessing in disguise and McCullum may get a chance to play a match finally. KXIP would be high on confidence after their clinical victory against Pune Warriors India and Delhi Daredevils and would like to be consistent and win this match and this win will enable the team to enter top four. However KKR playing at their home and with the danger of losing the title, the team would go all out to win this game and so according to us KKR should be the team who should win the match to remain in the competition.
