Kings XI Punjab vs Rajasthan Royals – Match 55 – IPL 6 – Betting Predictions and Tips

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) has been one of the most unpredictable sides in the season so far and they will take on one of the most consistent sides of this season Rajasthan Royals (RR). The match 55 of IPL 6 will be played at KXIP home Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali on Thursday May 9, 2013 at 4 PM IST. KXIP is currently placed at sixth position with five wins out of 11 and RR is at third with 8 wins out of 12 matches. There is another match later in the day which is between Pune Warriors India and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP)

KXIP would be very high on confidence after having won against one of the strongest team of the season Royal Challengers Bangalore in their last match. The batting has been led splendidly by South African player David Miller who scored a sizzling 38 ball 101 to help the team win the match. Previously also he has batted superbly to help team to win or come close to winning the match and he has scored 352 runs from just seven matches with three half centuries and one century under his belt. David Hussey has also been in decent form and has provided good support to batting and has led also quite well after Adam Gilchrist decided to drop himself because of awful form. Mandeep Singh has also been decent and other batsmen need to click if they have to do well. Bowling has been good with Azhar Mahmood and Praveen Kumar having taken 11 and 10 wickets respectively. Other bowlers have been average and need to bowl well to restrict the strong batting line up of RR.

Rajasthan Royals (RR)

RR has been very consistent and their batsmen have done superbly in almost all matches and it was evident in the last match also when they won the match with nine wickets in hand against Delhi Daredevils. The top three batsmen, Ajinkya Rahane, Rahul Dravid and Shane Watson, are in superb from and have scored more than 1,000 runs combined and are in top 10 in the highest run getters this season. Other batsmen, Stuart Binny, Brad Hodge, Sanju Samson, have also come to the party when required and played their role well. The bowling has also been decent with James Faulkner having taken 18 wickets from 10 matches at an economy of 6.51 and would look to continue the form in this match as well. Kevon Cooper, Siddharth Trivedi and Ajit Chandalia have been chipping wickets and have also managed to slow the run rate at times of the opposition.

Our Prediction

RR has played well and is almost through to the play-offs but their record in away matches is not as impressive as the home record where they have won all matches till now. If they win this match, the team is almost sure for the play-offs but they can’t afford to be complacent. On the other hand, KXIP has been very unpredictable and at times they have won the matches which were out of the reach and also lost matches which could have been easily won. They would like to take the home advantage so that they can move closer to play-offs. Though RR is a strong and more in-form team, KXIP is playing at home and would go all out to win this match and so we believe KXIP have a good chance of winning this match.
