Kings XI Punjab vs Kolkata Knight Riders – Match 20 – IPL 6 – Betting Predictions and Tips

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) return to their home ground to take on the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in match 20 to be played on Tuesday April 16, 2013. The match will be played at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali on Tuesday at 4 PM IST. The other match that will be played later during the day is between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils.

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP)

KXIP had a good start to the tournament after they registered easy victory over Pune Warriors India but thereafter it has not been an easy ride for them. KXIP has lost their both matches played which means that they have won just one out of three played. The team has some superb batsmen including the skipper Adam Gilchrist, the T20 veteran David Hussey and one of the best all rounders Azhar Mahmood, but they have not been able to perform upto the mark and so the team is not able to get the required start. Infact the problem of KXIP is that they have not been able to play their entire quote of 20 overs and they have been relying too much on David Hussey. In terms of bowling, Pravin Kumar has been superb and has been taking wickets at regular intervals with economical bowling. Other bowlers have not been in the best of their form and need to up their ante if they have to win the game.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

KKR would be pretty high on confidence after having won their last game with a big margin of 48 runs against the in form team Sunrisers Hyderabad. Again, the skipper Gautam Gambhir led from the front with a superb half century to give the required start to the team and for which he was also given the Man of the match award. Eoin Morgan played a devastating 47 of just 21 balls with a strike rate of 224 to help the team achieve the score of 180 in stipulated 20 overs. But the star of the match was Jacques Kallis with his superb all round performance. First he made 41 runs off 27 balls and then he bowled superbly taking three wickets and giving away just 13 runs in 4 overs. Even Sachithra Senanayake was superb giving away 18 runs and taking a wicket. Overall the side looks pretty upbeat and all the departments look pretty strong.

Our Prediction

KKR would like to repeat the performances so that they can register yet another win and move up the table. Currently they are placed at sixth position with 2 wins out of 4 matches played by them. On the other hand KXIP is placed at seventh position with just one victory in three matches played by them. KXIP have an advantage of playing at home but if they have to defeat such strong side they have to perform well in all departments and play as team rather than relying on a particular individual. KKR is definitely a better side in terms of form and players that the team has and they have yet to give Brandon McCullum a chance and infact they are facing a problem of plenty. For this match, KKR are my strong favorites to win the game.
