India vs Sri Lanka – ICC T20 World Cup 2014 Final match – Betting Predictions and Tips

The final match of the ICC T20 2014 World Cup will be played between two of the strongest sub-continent teams India and Sri Lanka. The match will be played on Sunday April 6, 2014 at Sher Bangla Stadium at Mirpur in Bangladesh. The match will commence at 6.30 PM IST.

What a superb performance it has been by India in almost all departments throughout the series. The team has remained unbeaten having won five matches in a row wherein the last match was the most clinical match that was the semi final played against mighty South Africa. Having chased a pretty decent target of 172 runs against Proteas will give them a lot of confidence that they could do the same against Sri Lanka as well in the final to take away the trophy. Talking about batting, it has been Virat Kohli’s show in the entire series with 242 runs, three half centuries and an average of 121 which includes three not outs out of 5 matches played. He has been the best finisher by far that any team has and has been am outstanding batsman at a crucial number three position for India. However he has been well supported by the opening batsman Rohit Sharma who has managed to give good starts and helped the middle order do the job without much pressure. The other opener could be mostly Ajinkya Rahane as he played well for the chances that he got and also Shikhar Dhawan does look a bit put of form as of now.

Talking about the bowling, the spin department looks pretty strong led by R Ashwin who bowled superbly against South Africa as well to take three crucial wickets and at an economy of less than six. Leggie Amit Mishra has also been good with two man-of-the-match awards in this tournament except for the last match and he would like to forget it and continue his terrific bowling. The fast bowling has not been that great and except for Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, the other bowler Mohit Sharma or Mohd Shami have been hammered for runs all over.

Sri Lanka (SL)

Sri Lanka has some very experienced batsmen such as Mahela Jayawardene and Kumara Sangakkara who can handle any situation and they would try to use all their experience in the final match of not only the tournament but also their life as they may retire after this. Mahela has also been the highest run scorer for the team with 134 runs. Opener Dilshan is also in decent form and he would like to give a good start to the team.

The team has some good bowlers as well and the first name that comes to the mind is Lasitha Malinga. He has been a terrific bowler and very economical too with 5 wickets and economy of under 6. Nuwan Kulasekara and Rangana Herath have been the best bowlers with 7 and 6 wickets respectively and economy of around 6. All rounder and skipper Angelo Matthews has also chipped in with runs and wickets at regular intervals and he may also make a difference tomorrow in the match.

Our Prediction

It is India’s batting vs Sri Lanka’s bowling and though it is difficult to say who will win, the edge tilts little in favour of the Indian team simply because of their splendid performance in the entire tournament. Sri Lanka has never won this cup and India has won just one in 2007 after which they have entered the finals this time. Our favourite India – but expect a cracking contest of bat and ball tomorrow.
