England vs Australia – 4th ODI – Australia tour of England 2013 – Betting Predictions and Tips

The two teams Australia and England take on each other in the penultimate ODI that will be played at Cardiff on Saturday September 14 2013. Of the last there ODI’s, two have been washed away and one has been won by Australia which means that Australia lead the series 1-0 as of now.

England team has already won the Ashes test series 2013 comprehensively and it was expected that they would dominate the ODI’s as well. But first the weather played a spoilt sport and then the players have disappointed which led to the loss in the only played match in the current ODI series. Opener Michael Carberry has had a hard time scoring just 15 runs in three innings and has not been able to gallop the chances given to him in the absence of the star batsman and skipper Alistair Cook. Current skipper Eon Morgan has looked promising and has performed well as a batsman but did not get enough support from other batsmen. The team has some big names including Kevin Pietersen and Joe Root in the batting line and they need to up their sleeves if they have to win. Morgan and Pietersen scored half centuries in the match and the surprise package was Jos Buttler who made fighting 75 to take the team to respectable total.

The bowling was also equally disappointing allowing Australia to score 315 in the stipulated 50 overs. Lot was expected from Steve Finn and off spinner Tredwell but they went for big beating giving away 68 and 60 runs (in 8 overs) respectively. In fact Ravi Bopara bowled well and not only managed to take 2 wickets but also was economical at 5.7 runs per over.

Australia was almost written off in this series as well considering their last performances and the forms of the players. But they showed what they are capable of and why they have been champions for long time in the world cricket. Leading from the front was skipper Michael Clarke scoring the only century of the match and continuing his good form from the test series. George Bailey also scored terrific 82 from just 86 balls and helped the team post a total in excess of 300 runs. Finch and Shane Watson also played well but could not convert the starts into big ones. Shaun Marsh disappointed after making a century against Scotland in the match before ODI series.

The bowling was also good as they managed to restrict mighty England to just 227 on a good batting wicket. McKay was the pick of the bowlers as he took 3 wickets and gave away just 47 runs and so it would expected that he would perform in this match as well. Mitchell Johnson also bowled superbly with 2 wickets and giving away scanty 36 runs from 10 overs. Other bowlers including James Faulkner and Shane Watson were decent and bowled well.

Our Prediction

The rain has been a big factor in the series till now and so only 1 match would be played of the three but the forecasts say that it should be a bright sunshine for this match at Cardiff.

England would like to fight and level the series and not leave to the last match while Australia would like to boost their confidence with another win and series victory. We can expect a good contest hopefully and for us Australia would be the favorite to win the match and series.
