England vs Australia – 2nd ODI – Australia tour of UK 2013 – Betting Predictions and Tips

After the recently concluded Ashes and couple of T20 international between the two sides on this tour, the arch rivals will now play a series of five 50-over ODI matches in England. The first match was washed out without even a ball being played. The 2nd ODI will be played at Old Trafford, Manchester on Sunday September 8 2013. The match will commence at 9.30 AM BST.

England would be top of the world after having won the recent Ashes and that too convincingly. However this is a different format and they have to ensure that they come out of the hangover and play well in this series as well. The team would be led by Eion Morgan who also captained the side against one-off ODI against Ireland. Joe Root was in superb form in the Ashes series and so lot would be expected from him in this format as well. Key player Kevin Pieterson is also in decent form and so we can expect fireworks from his bat as well. However the top order failed against Ireland and the team was saved by the centuries from the skipper and Ravi Bopara. This is a good news and makes the middle order strong which means that the team can expect good score and some classic batting display.

Talking about the bowling, fast bowler Steven Finn would be expected to take charge of the bowling with his some terrific pace bowling. He should get good support from not so experienced Ben Stokes and Boyd Rankin. The spin department would be led by James Tredwell with support from Kevin and Bopara may be.

Australia has not been in the best of the forms and they have lost the recent ashes quite miserably. The skipper Michael Clarke has been outstanding though with his class batting and has led from the front for the team. The team has some big names such as Shane Watson and Aaron Finch who are capable of destroying the opponent on their given day but they need to click so that the pressure on other batsmen is less. Shaun Marsh is also included in the side and so he also would be expected to play a role in the batting department and which he showed as he went on to make 151 against the one-off ODI against Scotland recently.

The bowling unit looks good with two great left arm pace bowlers Mitchell Johnson and James Faulkner to spearhead the bowling attack. The other bowlers who are in the side are not so experienced Nathan Coulter-Nile and Clint McKay and so they would try their best to make maximum of the given chance.

Our Prediction

England has had the upper hand in the recently concluded series and they have dominated in almost all departments in the recently concluded ashes against Australia. Also the fact that they are playing at home also gives them a big advantage over the opponent.

On the other side, Australia does not have that sting in the team and probably we can say that it is not one of the best teams that Australia is known for. It appears that the team is heavily reliant on 2-3 players and the failure could result in a big trouble for the team.

Overall we can expect a cracker of the match to happen and the two teams would give more than 100 percent to win and draw the first blood. England is our favourite to win this match.
