The team which loses the above qualifier will get one more chance to play Qualifier 2 with the team which wins the Eliminator match that will be played on May 23 between Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The winner of Qualifier 2 will play in the final match.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

CSK are the two time title winners and in this season also they have played like champions and won 11 games out of 16 played and topped the league table.

The batting has been excellent with ‘Mr.Cricket’ Michael Hussey in fantastic form and is second highest run getter in this season with 646 runs at an average of almost 50. Suresh Raina is also in superb form and has played superbly when the team has been crisis and has amassed 466 runs with one century and three half centuries in this season. When talking about batting, it would be incomplete if the name of the ‘Captain Cool’ MS Dhoni is not taken. He may have scored just 398 runs but he has been among the best finishers for the team and has a strike rate of 167. Other batsmen also have been contributing when required.

The bowling has been led superbly by Dwayne Bravo with 25 wickets and the ‘Surprise packet’ Mohit Sharma with 17 wickets from just 13 matches. R Ashwin and Chris Morris have also taken wickets at regular intervals and the former has been quite economical as well. All rounder Jadeja is also there who bowls quite economically and bats at crucial position.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

MI has never won the IPL title and they would fancy their chance this time. The batting of MI has also been nothing less than fantastic with Sachin Tendulkar and Dwayne Smith opening the innings and have managed to give explosive starts quite a few times. Both the openers may have scored just 287 and 284 runs, but they are capable of turning on the game any time. The real strength of the batting has been the skipper Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik who have amassed 526 and 456 runs respectively. Kieron Pollard has also managed to finish some of the close matches and has a strike rate of 143.

The bowling department has been led by Mitchell Johnson and Harbhajan Singh and they have taken 22 and 19 wickets respectively and the economy is also quite decent. Lasitha Malinga may not have taken as many wickets as expected from him but he has been very economical especially in death overs.

Our Prediction

It can be seen that there is hardly anything to choose between the two and it truly looks the ‘Game of Equals’. MI is known for setting big totals and CSK is known for chasing any kind of total and we can surely expect a cracker of a game. MI has a slight upper hand as they have won both matches against CSK in this season and will look to repeat the feat and so MI has a slight advantage over CSK to win this qualifier.
