Champions Trophy 2013 – Pakistan vs South Africa – Betting Predictions and Tips

After having lost their respective opening matches, both teams, Pakistan and South Africa, take on each other in a crucial match for both teams. This Group B match will be played on June 10, 2013 at Birmingham at 3 PM IST.

Pakistan lost their first match against West Indies in a low scoring close contest played on June 7, 2013. Batting first they could manage to score only 170 and could not complete the quota of 50 overs. Only two batsmen could manage to get in double digits and infact they managed to score half centuries for the team because of which the team could achieve a decent total. Skipper Misbah Ul Haq scored 96 and the opener Nasir Jamshed scored 50 and all other players could not make any impact. The bowling was superb as they were able to take 8 wickets of WI team and made it difficult for them to chase a comparatively low total. Mohammad Irfan took 3 wickets and bowled superbly in the initial overs to contain player like Chris Gayle. Key bowler Saeed Ajmal also bowled well and took 2 wickets and gave away just 38 runs in 10 overs and lot would be expected from him in this match as well.

South Africa (SA)

The Proteas would not be very happy with their performance as well and lost their first match to India after failing to chase the difficult target of 332. The top order in batting could not give the required start to the team and both Amla and Ingram got out early. Amla is an inform player and lots would be expected from him to fire in this match. The middle order played well and it looked that they would take the match away from India and chase the target quite easily. Led by the skipper AB de Villiers who scored 70 of just 71 balls and Peterson who scored 68 off 72 balls, the partnership added 124 runs before the latter got out. McLaren played a superb cameo and took the team closer to the target single handedly after he remained unbeaten at 71 of just 61 balls. The bowling was quite disappointing and looked quite weak in absence of the key bowler Dale Steyn. Bowlers like Tsotsobe and Kleinveldt gave away more than 80 runs each in their respective 10 overs. The biggest worry is that Morne Morkel has also been injured and would be most likely out of this game.

Our Prediction

Pakistan is always known to be unpredictable and capable of winning key matches and upsetting the biggest teams in such crucial matches. Their bowling has been superb but the real worry for the team would be the batting which even the skipper admitted that the batsmen need to be more responsible and need to stay till 50 overs if they have to win the match.

SA is clearly missing its key bowler Dale Steyn and now that the other key bowler Morkel is out of the series, it is a big setback for the team. This would give chance to Chris Morris to make debut in the national team after having a good stint in IPL with Chennai Super Kings. The batting has been decent but the batsmen kept getting out at crucial times.

Both the teams would like to win and open their account to stay alive in the competition. For this match, we feel Pakistan have an advantage over South Africa and should win this match.
